MODELLING LOUDNESS: ACOUSTIC AND PERCEPTUAL CORRELATES IN THE CONTEXT OF HYPOPHONIA IN PARKINSON’S DISEASE
2021
My dissertation work, completed at Western University with the help of my supervisor Dr. Scott Adams, my advisory committee, and lab colleagues.

The purpose of this work was to characterize the acoustic and perceptual characteristics of loudness and intelligibility in individuals with hypophonia associated with Parkinson's disease. This study included a preliminary investigation of spectral manipulation, targeting higher-frequency content information to investigate connections with loudness.

My full dissertation is available here. I prepared a 12-minute virtual presentation of certain key results of this work for presentation at the 2022 Conference on Motor Speech (I was unable to attend due to ongoing barriers to travel related to the COVID-19 pandemic). Video is available here, on the UWO Speech Movement Disorders Lab website.
